| A) Solar Water Heating Systems |
| The Solar Energy incident on earth's surface can be conveniently utilized for the benefit of human society. One of the popular devices that harness solar energy is the Solar Water Heating Systems. |
|
| The solar water heating system consists of a solar collector, a storage tank kept at a height behind the collector with connecting pipes. Based on the type of collector used, the Solar Water Heaters can be of two types: |
- Flat plate collector based systems.
- Evacuated tube collector based systems.
|
| The Solar Water Heating System uses the suns heat energy to heat the water which flows in the collector tubes. The heated water is stored in an insulated storage tank and it can be utilized at any time depending up on the requirement of the user / user organisation. By using the Solar Water Heating Systems, the water can be heated in the range of 60ºC to 80ºC depending on the intensity of the solar radiation. |
| The other details of the Solar Water Heating Systems are, |
| Uses |
- Bathing
- Washing
- Cleaning
- Boiler feed water
